A healthy dose of medicine
I have heard people say that laughter is the best medicine. It is believed that laughter can help lower your blood pressure, reduce stress levels, increase memory and learning, and improve your alertness. I once attended a performance of Spamalot staged by a local theater company. I was familiar with the Monty Python movies, but knew little about the story line to the musical. There was only one song that I knew, Always Look on the Bright Side of Life. Not surprising for me. There was not one dramatic moment in the entire production. It was all about silliness and absurdity. I don't remember laughing that hard in months. And the laughter was infectious. Evidently, being entertained by silliness goes a long way with people. The show ended with a sing-along to the only song I knew with everyone in attendance joining in. As I exited the theater, the mood continued. People were gathered outside still laughing and sharing their favorite funny parts of the show. My guess is that everyone left with a healthy dose of medicine that night. I wonder what the numbers would have been for their vital signs before and after the performance. I am sure there was a positive change in mine. When was the last time that laughter was your best medicine?
