A small inconvenience

Date:
November 21, 2017

We spend so much of our lives seeking an easier path for our journey. We settle into our comfort zone and become irritable when we are asked to step outside of it. Perhaps it would mean less time for our own interests. After all, there are only so many hours in the day. What if you were asked to devote part of your day to clean the litter in the park or visit an elderly person in a nursing home? Would you do so readily or politely decline even though you had the time? Think of this as a small inconvenience that could make a major difference. The park would be free of debris making it more attractive and safe for those who play in it. You would be welcome company to someone in a nursing home whose family lives too far away to see them regularly. Think of the stories you would hear of another time and place. When we step outside ourselves, we are given the opportunity to experience the world from another vantage point. We see how we fit into the greater scheme of life. It is a small price to pay for sharing with others. What are you willing to do as a small inconvenience to step outside yourself today?
