Collective thinking

Date:
December 21, 2012

While I generally do not make reference to a specific date, I think that today may be an exception. Today is a much publicized one in that it is the day that the Mayans supposedly predicted the end of the world based on their calendar. Countless numbers of people believed that this would happen. It reminded me of almost 12 years ago when many thought that the advent of a new century would coincide with the end of civilization. Neither of these events materialized. What this demonstrates is the power of the collective conscious. Would it make a difference if the belief was held by everyone on the planet? This belief was certainly well-known since it was shared across the media. In checking the time in another country yesterday, the top reference was identifying the exact time the world would end in each time zone. Thus I could be rest assured when the end was near. I wondered how many people approached that time with trepidation. The good news is that today is another day that reminds us that we choose our reality. For those who fully believed that they would not be here to experience the day, there will be something to be learned for each of them. What are the times that you have been engaged in this type of thinking, and how did the outcome match your beliefs?
