Heart tugs

I am sure that many people would think it would be easier to experience life as a straight line where they were sure of what lay before them. I have yet to meet someone who would fit that pattern. I think of my own life and how I saw myself in the various decades that have passed. I have enough of them under my belt to where I can recall what I thought my life would be and where it has been. One of my heart tug experiences occurred in my late teens when I changed majors from Biology to Psychology. My performance in my science classes was a strong support for that decision. Another heart tug came in my late 20s when I knew it was time to move out on my own eventually leading to a relocation to the other side of the country. And so the decades continued. What I realize now was that the direction my life has taken has been more about what I call "heart tugs." These are the moments when I would feel a draw toward the next steps I would take in my life. Sometimes the heart tugs were gentle and other times they were strong. All I had to do was take time to listen to their presence and take action. Those heart tugs have brought me to where I am today and I appreciate the results of their messages to me. When was the last time you felt a heart tug and where did it take you?
