Hiding our light

As a career counselor I have heard countless stories of people's dreams of what they would like to bring to the world based on their gifts and talents. I would sit in awe of the consideration that was taken in the planning and the difference that their contributions could make to mankind. I would envision them sharing their success on national television or in a book. I would offer words of encouragement to pursue that dream. Sad to say sharing the dream was as far as they went. Some obstacle of their own creation would serve to prevent them from moving forward to achieving the dream. Not only was this unfair to them, it was unfair to all who could benefit from their plan. I wonder how many thousands of dreams remain just that...dreams. Never to be made real, never to be celebrated for what they could have accomplished and contributed. We sometimes choose to hide our greatness and the light that it could shine on the world. What is your dream and what keeps you from it becoming a reality?
