I'll cry tomorrow

Date:
October 8, 2021

For many of us, especially those of the male gender, crying has been judged as a sign of weakness. We even had a vice-presidential candidate step down because he expressed emotion. I recall as a child being told that only girls cry and that I had to stifle any tears even when it felt like the right thing to do. We are moving into a time when the shedding of tears is nothing to feel ashamed of. They are a natural flow of our emotions. We cry when we are happy and when we are sad. They can be your body's way of releasing stress and tension. You will often hear a person say that they could use a good cry. Many people cry when they experience a loss. This could be the loss of a relationship such as a parent, spouse, or child. It could be the loss of your health, your job, or your home. We cry over that which has significance for us. Think of what is significant for you in your life and what would happen if it was no longer present. Think also of the joy you experience and how tears fit that situation. When was the last time you cried and how did you feel afterwards?
