Man’s best friend

In 2006 we became proud parents to a two year old cockapoo named Rocky. I hadn’t owned a dog since my childhood and was unsure as to how this would work. It didn’t take long before Rocky became an integral part of the family. His presence taught me love and acceptance. He intuitively knew how to read situations in which I might be experiencing pain and would rest his head on my leg to let me know he was there for me. In 2022 we had to say goodbye to him. When the vet administered the final injection and announced, “He’s gone”, I felt like my heart had been ripped from my chest. A year and a half later we were open to having a new dog in our lives. We put out to the Universe what we were looking for and it responded with Ozzy, a rescue dog from Mexico. He is a five year old Bichon-poodle mix who was abused in his earlier years. He is slowly learning to trust us and has been a source of love and acceptance, just like Rocky. He knows that he is loved and protected which is the greatest gift we can give him. I understand why dog’s are called man’s best friend. How has a pet made a difference in your life?
