Nothing happens by accident

Have you ever heard the statement that everything happens for a reason? You may not understand what that reason is at that moment, but eventually you will. That doesn’t mean that you will need to understand every action you take like breaking a dish. However you may learn that you are more likely to break a dish if your hands are wet or you aredistracted. This may lead to you being more careful in the future when holdinga dish. In situations that are more likely to get your attention, knowing the reason behind it may be more beneficial. Perhaps you were looked over for apromotion at work. You may feel slighted or angry when you receive that news, but a few months later you hear that that department was eliminated. You dodged a bullet on that one. Perhaps your marriage of 25 years ended unexpectedly in adivorce. You feel a sense of loss accompanying that, but later meet the true love of your life. I generally approach these types of situations b by responding, “I guess it wasn’t meant to be.” Then I open myself up to new opportunities to replace what didn’t occur. This attitude keeps me from feeling like I am a victim of circumstances. After all, there isn’t much comfort in feeling and acting like a victim. Think back to events in your life that didn’t turn out the way you had originally planned. What opened up for you once you realized that nothing happens by accident?
