That's not for me
There is an organization that ends its meeting with, "Take what you like and leave the rest." This is helpful advice since we all hear information throughout the day that does not resonate for us. We are free to choose what we integrate into our thinking and belief systems. In some cases we become open to the messages we receive and wonder why we didn't adopt them sooner. The answer is simple. We weren't ready yet. The same is true when we share information with others. We may have come across a way of thinking that is life altering and we are excited to share it with others. There are many people who will listen because they already share an understanding and acceptance of your ideas. Then there are those who look at you rather skeptically. You can tell by the look on their faces that their experiences do not match yours. And finally there are those that we don't even share with due to their divergent belief systems. It does not mean that you are right and they are wrong. It is just not for them. Diversity of thinking can be a wonderful concept because it allows you to entertain new perspectives even when you question them. What have you shared lately with someone and found that it was not for them and how did you handle that?
