That's what friends are for
We are born into a biological family generally consisting of a mother, a father, and siblings. Our perception of who and what we are is molded by our interactions with them. Those interactions are hopefully mostly positive in nature. That may not always be the case leaving us wondering what happened resulting in feelings of a lack of self worth or even abandoned. It is at this time that it is important to recognize that we have the ability to create a family of our own choosing. If you grew up in a family that recognized your worth and value, you would continue to seek out individuals who affirm that. If your family was incapable of providing such support, you can gather individuals around you to take on that supportive role. Ask yourself what qualities you would like to include in those that you consider as friends. You can choose those who listen to you without judgement, who celebrate your wins in life, and encourage you to take risks to grow. You can bid goodbye to anyone who doesn’t match the qualities you seek. That’s what friends are for. What are the qualities of the friends that would be there for you no matter what?
