The best birthday ever

Today just happens to be my birthday. For some a birthday is cause for celebrating while for others it is just another day. I tend to fall among the former. Perhaps it is because of its proximity to Halloween. If there was going to be a party, the theme was pretty much predetermined. Looking back at those many birthdays, they certainly covered the gamut of what I had hoped for. What I learned was the importance of asking for what I want. For those birthdays when others decided what the celebration would look like, it left me with a quizzical, "What were you thinking?" Especially my 40th birthday that was supposed to be a surprise party that occurred several weeks after my actual birthday. It was almost comical to respond to guests who couldn't make it that it hadn't happened yet. So much for the surprise. The best birthday was two years ago spent in Moorea in French Polynesia. I definitely planned for that one. Sometimes we are directly involved in what a birthday looks like and other times we can be open to what the Universe has planned. What was your best birthday ever?
