The magic of the moment
There is something to be said for living in the present. Imagine every fiber of your body tuned in to what is happening around you. Your senses are at a heightened alertness allowing you to see, hear, smell, touch, and taste at a level that is not present when you are focused on the past or the future. One way to experience the moment is to go outside alone. It doesn’t matter what time of day or what season it is. Whatever you choose will offer a uniqueness that will never repeat itself. You might choose a summer day when you can see the light streaming through the trees, hear the birds chirping and the bees buzzing, smell a freshly mowed lawn, lie on the ground and feel the coolness of the grass beneath you, and taste the fruit of an overhanging tree. Each time of day will offer its gift of the moment. All you need do is be present, Clear your mind of any chatter that could distract you even if it is for only five minutes. The next time you do this, see if you can extend that time even by one minute. When the time is ended, ask yourself how you feel. Do you feel refreshed, exhilarated, serene? When was the last time you stopped to experience the magic of the moment and how was your life changed as a result of it?
