The passing of time

We arrive in this lifetime unaware of when our departure will be. For some, their stay is a short one lasting but a few days. For others, it may span a century. The time we are here constitutes one that provides lessons and opportunities. The experiences we gather mold our lives. The longer we are here on this earth, the greater the influence that these experiences have on us. Our parents are one of the earliest and strongest influences especially in those early childhood days. When we feel loved and accepted, it shapes how we approach our future years. When we are treated with criticism and disdain, we can live out our lives as being less than and unworthy. It is within our freewill as to how we will use the past to carve our future. Even a negative childhood does not serve as a life sentence. There are so many stories of individuals who grew up in problematic households, only to rise above this to become great successes. The passage of time serves to strengthen their resolve to overcome the programming of their childhood. At the same time, there are those who were born into families that offered every advantage only to spend their adult years in incarceration. There is no way to predict how a life will unfold as the years go by. Consider your own life and what it looks like with the passage of time. What would you do today to make any course corrections to bring about a life of joy and freedom?
