Unlimited wishes
As a child, one of my favorite stories was that of Aladdin's lamp. All he had to do was to rub the lamp and make a wish and it would come true. There was nothing that he was denied. As an adult, I wonder if this isn't synonymous to our relationship with an Infinite Creator and Provider. For Aladdin the act of asking was instantaneous to the act of receiving. Wouldn't it be wonderful if the same was true for us? The problem for Aladdin was that his wishes lacked intentionality. They were based on instant gratification. When we seek guidance for what serves the greatest good of all involved, our intention is clear and the asking proceeds. I have seen evidence of this in my own life. I have a list of 101 wishes for my life. When I was composing the list, I imagined how I would feel as each of them became a reality. All of the emotions I experienced were positive. Many of my wishes involved helping others while others were about the joy I would feel as the wish materialized. I review my wishes once a year. A number of them have already become a reality with more on the way. I have only had to change one wish on the list and it felt right to do so. What replaced it was even better. As the wishes come true I add new ones to round out my 101 wishes. Just as Aladdin was confident that rubbing the lamp would result in having his wishes fulfilled, it is important to believe that the same can be true for you. What is your intention behind your wish? When you are clear on this, do the asking. What would you include in your wish list?
