What would it take?

While rewriting my LinkedIn profile I shared my story of how I arrived at where I am today. I wrote about my experiences in deciding upon a career path which was largely unplanned. I posed the question, " Why didn't anyone ever ask what it would take for me to become any of the occupations I named when I was in elementary school?" Without a plan there was little chance of a possibility transforming into a probability. To be successful at any of the occupations I imagined in my adult life, the first thing I needed to do was to develop the discipline to hone the skills associated with them. It would have meant practicing the piano at least an hour a day or enrolling in acting classes. It would have meant talking to people who were doing this type of work to learn what it takes. In my current position I am always talking to others or reading up on how to be most effective in the work I do. What would my life have been like had I done that at an early age? When you talk to young people do you ask them how they plan to manifest their dreams? It is more than just thinking it. It is taking the steps for it to become a reality. What are you doing today to make your dreams and goals come true for you?
