A brand new start
One technique I learned many years ago to apply when my day wasn’t going the way I wanted it to was to restart the clock at that moment. I could put everything that felt counter to what I wanted my day to look like behind me. Imagine what you could feel like if you chose to apply this technique. It would give you more of a sense of control over your day rather than feeling like you are a victim to it. Let’s say that your morning started out with oversleeping so that you miss an important Zoom call scheduled at 8:00 AM. This is followed by not being able to find your car keys and spilling coffee on your white shirt. Not exactly the way you want your morning to go. This is the moment when you decide to reset your clock and begin a new day. Ask yourself what you would need to do next as part of that day. Start by acknowledging what occurred before this. Is there any action you could take right now to correct what occurred? If not, let it go and move on. If so, begin there. This is what it is like to regain control of your life. What can you be doing to ensure that the rest of the day proceeds positively? If nothing else, you can always monitor your attitude toward what happens. If you find that your life is traveling at too fast a pace, slow down. Enjoy what is in front of you. Anytime life seems to be out of control, consider it time to reset your clock.
