A come as you are party

When I was a child I recall hearing about people having parties in which you as the guest were invited spontaneously and arrived in whatever you were wearing when you answered the telephone. I honestly don't know of anyone who actually attended one of these parties, but it sounded like it could be fun. Yet isn't every day a come as you are party? However you show up for life that day is the way you will participate in what the host has planned. That may involve doing some work, taking children to school, or running a marathon. Since parties are about having fun, why can't the same be said about how you approach life? Why not choose to put fun into as many activities as possible? Granted there may be occasions where this is not totally appropriate such as dealing with a tragedy, but the events of life most often lend themselves to injecting some element of fun into them. All you have to do is show up as you are and be prepared to enjoy what life brings. Do you ever notice how people tend to gravitate towards others who have that joie de vivre, that joy of life? How can you be one of those people today?
