A good cry

A good cry can be therapeutic. It serves to relieve stress and release toxins from the body. The chemical makeup of tears that are designed as lubricants for the eye and the tears that come from emotional release are different. Crying can be helpful when dealing with loss. Think of the losses that people are experiencing in today's world. In addition to the loss of loved ones, people are losing their jobs, their health, and their homes. Relieving the stress associated with these losses can support the body's defense mechanisms. You know when your body is building an emotional stockpile and a good cry may be the solution to this condition. There are a number of ways to elicit tears. One is by recalling the event that triggered the emotions around it. Another way is to watch a movie or read a book that stimulates your tears. I just have to watch "Hachi: A Dog's Tale" based on a true story and my tears are flowing copiously. Sometimes the cries can be gut wrenching, but the results are worth it. I feel better and I can now have a different perspective of the situation. If you find yourself crying constantly over the same event, you may want to consider talking to someone about it on a professional level. There may be other issues present beyond dealing with a current situation. When was the last time you had a good cry and how did it help you?
