A matter of choice
As humans we have been given the gift of freedom of choice or free will. Throughout the day we are presented with opportunities to decide what we will think, say, and do. With our choices come consequences. When we look at the impact of our choices, we see the importance of choosing wisely. When we choose to say unkind and hurtful words about another, what impact does that have? Is the world a better place to live as a result of those words? Are there other ways that we can make a positive difference related to this person? I always wondered, if someone said unkind things about others, what do they say about me when I am not in their presence? If we think before we act or speak, it may change the words that we share with others. It becomes a matter of choice. The same is true of all aspects of our lives. Each day we are presented with hundreds if not thousands of choices to make. In some cases our choices have taken on the nature of habits where we unconsciously perform tasks such as driving and showering. Even these habits can benefit from a review and changes if warranted. This becomes most evident at the beginning of each year when people make resolutions to adjust their choices. For awhile the new choices must fall into the realm of conscious thinking with a new outcome in mind. Hopefully they will be choices that move you in a positive direction making a difference for yourself and those around you. What choices can you make today that will matter to yourself and others?
