still small voice

As a child I recall being told that, whenever I was faced with a decision, I should remain quiet and wait to hear from the still small voice within me. I never quite understood exactly what that meant. Would there be an undeniable voice in my ear that would tell me what to do or say? As I grew older I came to understand that this was my intuition. I can only recall a handful of times when I was aware of its presence. The first time was when I was driving along an unfamiliar road. The voice told me to apply the brakes immediately. Had I not listened to it, I would have driven over an unmarked 70 foot embankment. I would not likely have survived it. The next time was when I was in a store finding myself face to face with an armed gunman. The still small voice gave me instructions on how to escape him and I am here today to tell that tale. Those were probably the two most prominent experiences I could share on this phenomenon, but they show the power of that voice, I often wonder why I don’t listen to it more. It serves a definite purpose in my life. When was the last time you heard that still small voice and what did it tell you?
