Another point of view

It is easy enough to maintain a conversation with someone who shares the same outlook on life as you do. It is much harder to do with someone who has a very different point of view. There are so many issues we face in today's complex world and we tend to place ourselves into camps based on our beliefs. You have to remember that the other camp is probably having just as difficult a time understanding where we are coming from. Here is an opportunity to learn rather than judge. Ask the other person to tell you about their point of view. It can tell you what it is that contributes to their way of seeing the world. It doesn't mean you have to adopt their point of view or convince them to change their way of thinking to yours after you are done talking. It means that you will see life from a different perspective. You may also have opened up the lines of communication for future discussion on the topic allowing for growth on both sides. When was the last conversation you had with someone who had a differing point of view and what did you learn from that experience?
