Backwards and forwards

Date:
January 1, 2018

The first month of the year, January, is named after the Roman god Janus who is depicted as having two faces. One face projected into the past while the other projected into the future. As you begin the new year, you have an opportunity to do both. It is a time to review the passing year. What did you learn from it? What aspects of it do you wish to carry forward and which are best left behind? What faces you in the upcoming year? This is a year that is a blank slate on which you are free to write whatever you choose. Will you write a tale of woes and victimization or will you write a story of victories and successes? This is not to say that you won't face challenges and obstacles throughout the year. It is how you approach these events that will make a difference. Perhaps it is a relationship, a health issue, or financial circumstances that stand before you. Will you face it with fear or courage? Will you try to address it alone or seek out others to support you? Think of how you have handled such situations in the past and how effective that would be in the future. In the meantime enjoy the moment as much as possible. What does year ahead look like and what can you do to create the year you desire?
