Be generous with your words
How many times have you heard someone say. "I wish I had told him or her how much I thought of them before they were gone?" Perhaps it was to tell them of how much we cared for them or the difference they made in our lives. We may have these thoughts, but they are never shared. If we believe that there is a conscious presence even after death, then our words may still reach listening ears. If not, wouldn't it be better to speak our words now? Think of what it might mean to the other person when you let them know how much you value your relationship. You may want to call a friend or relative you haven't spoken to in years. Your lack of communication may not be based on animosity, but just a passing of time. It may be just what that person needs that day to lift their spirits.Think of how you feel when someone does that for you. One way to begin is to make a list of three people you haven't spoken to in kindness lately and let each of them know how they matter to you. Ask yourself how you feel as you do this. Do you feel closer to others as a result of this? How would you feel if you learned today that that person was no longer physically present for you to share your thoughts of caring? Is it worth waiting to find out? Who would be on your list should you choose to write one today?
