Beginning your day

What were your first thoughts when you awakened this morning? Did you wake up thinking about the wonderful events that could occur in your life today? Or did you bemoan the arrival of another day with little hope for change? These thoughts help to set the tone for your day. I notice that my day unfolds in a much more positive manner when I start it knowing that everything will be right and perfect. It doesn't mean I won't face challenges; it means that I will have the resources at my disposal to face them head on. I also start my day by looking for opportunities to express gratitude. First and foremost is being grateful for just waking up. Then I express gratitude for doing so in a warm bed. I recall one morning when I hadn't slept well the night before, I expressed gratitude for not having any appointments scheduled that day so that I could nap if I needed. It doesn't have to be complicated. I also start my day by reading what I refer to as my passion statements. I have them spread throughout the house in readily accessible places. On my computer I have taped a card that reads, "I am blissful...this or something better." Think of the subliminal message that is provided as I sit at my computer throughout the day. I much prefer this way of approaching life compared to the days when I awoke feeling anxious about what was going to happen and watching the day progress to support those thoughts and feelings. The change didn't occur overnight, but it was worth the wait. How did your day begin and is there anything you would like to do to change that tomorrow when you awaken?
