Come to your senses
We can get so caught up in the day to day routines in our lives that we forget to take time to appreciate what is around us. It is the proverbial message of stopping to smell the roses. Our senses are a wonderful gift not only designed to give us information necessary for our survival, but also to experience the world at a higher level. Even better is that this does not cost you one penny. Think of what feeds your senses and ask yourself when the last time was that you chose to partake of it. What do you consider to be aesthetically pleasing to the eye? Is it a flower, a waterfall, a puppy? Answer this question for each of your remaining senses. For some it is a single focus such as a particular object or piece of music. For others it is the bigger picture such as a panoramic view of a valley from a mountain top or a symphony. The source is important only in that it is what brings pleasure and serenity. Remind yourself today of what your senses bring to you and search out opportunities to access them. How do your senses serve you in appreciating what is in your life today?
