Don't be afraid to ask

Last Monday I was scheduled to fly to Las Vegas to attend a writers’ conference. There was a five hour layover in Seattle. When I arrived at the ticket counter I said to the agent, “Work your magic to change me to an earlier flight from Seattle to Las Vegas.” She checked the flight schedule and told me that the two earlier flights were full but that she would continue to see if there were any changes. When I arrived in Seattle, I saw that there was a gate change. I was now scheduled for the earlier flight and had been upgraded to First Class. That would have never happened had I not asked for the change. I was willing to accept the original travel schedule never realizing what awaited me. Because I had the phone number from our agent at the point of origin, I was able to express my gratitude to her for what she had done. When I arrived in Las Vegas and was checking into the hotel, I again asked the agent to work her magic. She gave me a room upgrade to a suite overlooking the Strip. Again, that never would have occurred had I not asked. It’s always important to ask yourself if you could live without the changes being made. Then watch the magic happen. What experience have you had when you asked for something that made a positive difference in your life?
