Embracing all that we are

There are very few, if any, people on the planet who are free of what we refer to as "baggage" from their past. We deal with our past in various ways. Sometimes we deny it and act "as if" it had never occurred. Sometimes we put a band aid on it and minimize it by saying to ourselves that nobody's life is perfect. Sometimes we dive into self-help books hoping to find the key that releases us from our pain. Eventually we learn that what we resist persists. Unless we are willing to deal with the source of our emotional discomfort, we will continue to attract circumstances that reinforce the beliefs we have surrounding those early events. What we have experienced in the past contributes to who we are today. We can face our past and put it in perspective as giving us a way to look at the world in a manner that best serves us personally as well as those around us. We have a new sense of what it means to take responsibility for who we are today and no longer have to blame others for our plight. What do you need to face from your past in order to release its hold on you?
