Expressing appreciation

I once attended an event in which the speaker suggested keeping a journal containing daily entries of what you appreciate about a person close to you. It only had to contain a single statement of what you observed that was positive about that person that day. Once the journal was completed, it was to be delivered to that person. This delivery could coincide with a holiday such as Christmas, a birthday, or just because it was completed. We often forget to acknowledge what we specifically appreciate about others, especially those close to us. Think about how that person would feel when reading so many positive statements. How would you feel if you received such a gift?
