Failure is not an option

How many times have you not achieved a goal you had set for yourself? Perhaps you were hoping for a long-term marriage or you had your heart set on a specific job. But the marriage didn't last and someone else was offered the position. It is at this moment that you can make a decision on how to look at this event. The event in itself is neutral. It is the story that we create around it that has the greatest impact on us. Rather than create a story of failure, consider creating a story based on the lessons learned from the experience. Regarding the relationship, what did you learn about yourself that would be helpful in approaching a future one in a healthier, more informed manner? Did you allow yourself enough time to really get to know the other person? What nonmaterial gifts did you receive from your time in the relationship? What new opportunities will being single offer you? See yourself as a success in any situation you face. There are no rejects or damaged goods when it comes to the human race or anything else that exists on this planet today. It may be time to set a new goal and begin your journey in that direction knowing that new information may cause you to alter your trajectory. As you gain perspective on what you considered to be a failure, you may learn that it was simply a stepping stone to something even greater. That will only be apparent to you when you take those next steps. What have you considered to be a failure in your life that actually turned out to be a blessing in disguise?
