Giving away your power

There are still times in my life when I encounter a situation that feels like life has come to a screeching halt. It may involve another person who has not followed through on a commitment that has what looks like a negative effect on my life. Or it may be a situation such as a drop in the stock market that takes a slice out of my investments. These are the times that my ego is more than willing to step in and feed my thoughts with fear. If I choose to listen to my ego, my day will be miserable since there is nothing hopeful in its messages. When situations like these occur, it is important to recognize them for what they are. I can view them as catastrophic or as an opportunity to put my spiritual practices into action. When I choose the latter my life goes into a realignment mode and the future appears brighter. In one recent case the person involved contacted me to let me know that the commitment was being carried through as promised. At any moment I have the power to reconnect with the Universe and ask for its guidance as to how to handle a problem in a loving manner. The answers come if I am quiet and open.
