Holding on for dear life
There are situations in our lives that we find difficult to release. We tend to replay them in our minds somehow believing that by doing so will result in a different outcome. It may stem from a doubt we have in our judgment, a feeling of guilt, or a fear of what might occur in our future. Whatever its source, it prevents us from fully enjoying the present. To make a change it is necessary to challenge that source. If it is related to a judgment we can remind ourselves that what we chose was the best decision based on our state of mind at the time. Ask yourself what you learned from the experience as a way to avoid it should it present itself again. If it is a feeling of guilt, ask yourself what is at the root of it. Perhaps it comes from your need to please others at the cost of your own well being. If it is a fear of the future, ask yourself what you can do today to address it knowing that we are always given what we need. Then be prepared to let go of what is holding you captive. If it shows up again in your thoughts and feelings, acknowledge and release it. When you let go, you find that new answers present themselves leading to a less stressful life. What are you holding onto for dear life today that you are ready to release?
