How important is it?
There are times when we feel pressed to have others see the errors of their ways and the correctness of ours. This can be the case when we are in a relationship with a significant other or a coworker. If we share an idea or suggestion without having an expectation that the other person will change accordingly, then by all means do so. It may be that you are needing to assert yourself so as not to be a victim or pointing out a behavior that may be harmful to others. It is when we are wanting to control the behavior of another that we run into problems. Look at the situation and ask yourself, "How important is it?" Ask yourself for the motive behind your actions. In the bigger scheme of things will it really matter if the other person is left to walk their own path? If we are aware of our own motives we will know when to remain silent. When was the last time you were in a situation where you asked yourself, "How important is it?"
