I see your point

I don't always see eye to eye with people during the day. This can lead to conflict, arguments, and alienation. I find that when I am in this space, I feel like I have lost my connection to God/the Universe/whatever I choose to call that source within me. My ego steps in and wants things its way. Of course that is when I am judging my way to be the ONLY way or the RIGHT way. I have another choice. I can hold the other's person's point of view up to the light and attempt to see it from another perspective. That might start with a simple statement like, "That's an interesting way to look at the situation. Help me to understand your point of view." In being open at the top, we allow ourselves to take in new information that can shed new light on the situation. It is also important to identify a common ground shared by those involved. If we point that out, we may see that we are not that far off in our understanding of what is happening. Just taking a little bit of time to look at another perspective can help us keep a positive focus. What have you experienced lately with others that can benefit from another point of view?
