If no one was looking
While in Germany I had the opportunity to observe total trust in action. There are flower fields along the roadsides throughout southern Germany. Should you wish to have fresh flowers, all you have to do is pull into one of these garden, use one of the cutting knives provided, and browse the garden for the blooms you desire. You may cut as many flowers as you want. When you are finished with your task, you return the knife and pay according to the number of flowers you have picked. A price list is provided next to a small box to insert the correct amount of money. There is no cashier present. It is strictly on the honor system. From what I heard, there are no abuses of this service. You know what you are getting and the freshness of the flowers is guaranteed. What do you think would happen if this practice was introduced into your neighborhood?
