I'll tell you what you think

While our ideas are meant to be shared, it is important to recognize who owns them. It is my responsibility to take ownership of my beliefs and opinions. I may feel strongly about them, but you don't have to accept them. They may be expressed out of the sincerest wish to be of help, but you are under no obligation to take them to heart. I have no right to tell you what and how to think. What is right for me may be totally wrong for you. I have watched the pain in the faces of others when they were discounted for that they were thinking and doing. We don't know what another person needs on their journey. The thoughts and beliefs they hold today may change tomorrow, and it is not up to me to try to force those changes to occur. When I share my thoughts, I release the effect they might have on the listener. Have you ever had anyone come up to you and thank you for your words that made a difference in their lives and you don't even remember saying them? When we speak without a need to control or persuade, the Universe can work through us to bring about that difference. What is behind your need to share what you think someone else should think?
