It's not your time
My Saturday began much like any other Saturday, rather uneventful. But three hours later it would change dramatically when I started to feel an unexpected tightness in my chest. I knew instinctively what was happening, a major heart attack. I contacted 911 and within a short time was on the operating table in the hands of a very capable heart surgeon. At one point I asked her when she would be beginning the procedure to which she responded that it was already over. I spent the next 48 hours in the hospital slowly recovering. Five days later the entire incident feels like a distant memory. I knew at the time of my heart attack that I was not done completing my mission on earth. That sense provided me with feelings of consolation and peace. Had it been my time to exit this life, I would have accepted it as the next step in my spiritual journey. But it was not to be at this moment. I believe that we arrive in this lifetime with an exit plan and I was fully aware that mine had not yet arrived. I will need to make some significant changes in my lifestyle, and I am willing to do that. It is times like this that remind us of how fragile life can be and the importance of living it fully. Have you ever had a similar experience and what did you learn from it?
