When was the last time you experienced what we call “a good belly laugh”? It’s that deep down laugh that can bring tears to your eyes. It rolls through your entire body. As it does so, it reduces your stress levels and increases your immune system. Laughter produces endorphins that can temporarily help reduce pain. If you have ever been in a meeting in which stress levels are on the rise, one way to diffuse the stress is through a humorous comment that brings on laughter. It reminds us that life is never that serious. Those moments of laughter allow the people present to take a break from the conversation and recollect their thoughts. With lowered stress, new ideas and solutions may present themselves. Creativity increases. When you laugh, you take in more oxygen that can stimulate the organs in your body including your brain. There are so many benefits to laughter that you would want to ensure that you sought opportunities to make it a daily part of your life. When was the last time you had a good belly laugh and what brought it about for you?
