Let there be light

Date:
December 21, 2019

Today is the winter solstice or the summer solstice depending on which hemisphere you are in. For those of us in the northern hemisphere it is the shortest amount of daylight in the year while our southern neighbors are enjoying their longest daylight hours. In the north there are numerous celebrations acknowledging this time of the year as our days extend providing light and warmth. There is the literal presence of light as well as its figurative presence. We interpret light as knowledge and clarity. It shows up in the form of the light bulb above the head of a cartoon character to indicate an idea or insight. A photo of the rising sun indicates a new beginning filled with opportunity. We talk about how a room lights up when someone special enters it. There have been periods in history referred to as The Age of Enlightenment. As we enter into this shift in daylight hours, think about ways in which you have been enlightened. What new knowledge has changed your life and how have you benefited from it?
