New old friends
Have you ever met someone for the first time and feel like you have known them all your life? You feel safe and comfortable enough in their presence that you can talk about anything within a short time of knowing each other. This recently happened to me. The trip that I had originally planned to Alaska for two months ago never materialized because of a technicality. The trip was replaced with a cruise to the Baltic. My first comment when this happened was, "I wonder who we are supposed to meet on this trip?" Shortly after the cruise began we met a couple during lunch and struck up a conversation. It turned out that they lived only a few hours' drive from us. This weekend we took advantage of their proximity and stayed with them at their home. The bond between us strengthened and I realized that this relationship would be a long lasting one. We never know what awaits us when we remain open to possibility. All that matters is that you take action when what looks like coincidence shows up. When was the last time you made a new old friend?
