No more trying
One way to postpone the arrival of what you wish to attract is to focus on "trying." Think back to situations that you thought about changing. "I'll try to do better next time," was part of our self-talk. Our desire to improve our situation is definitely admirable. However, if there is no action to accompany that desire, we simply fall back into our comfort zone and continue the same pattern of behavior. When I was earning my degree in Counseling, our instructors would tell us to confront our clients when they used the word, "try." We would use the metaphor of standing next to a 3 ton truck, placing our hands under one of its tires, and saying "I'm trying to lift it" with about three ounces of effort. The client would hopefully see that this was not going to bring about success. The action toward doing so would be to bring in a tow truck which would easily do the job. I used to also tell people that I was "trying" to create world peace just by giving fleeting thought to it once a week. When you catch yourself using the word, "trying," think about the actions that are needed to make it happen in reality. Then make a conscious decision to take that first step to create what you desire. What have you been "trying" to do lately that would be better served by taking that first action toward change?
