Nothing but the truth
When we are in court we are asked to tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth. What people on the stand are actually doing is reporting their version of an incident. Each version is based on the individual's perspective, how they process information, and their emotional state at the time of the incident. Does that mean that one person is telling the real truth and everyone else isn't? It means that each person experiences the world in a different manner. One way that is expressed is through their words as they attempt to communicate their version of reality. Of course what we know is that those versions can change in time sometimes instantaneously. I tell people that for something to be the truth it would have to be consistent among everyone who was affected by it. I continue to seek what that might be. Listen for the word, truth, being used in conversations today. Then step back and weigh the speaker's words as ones that would be consistent with anyone else telling their story. What do you hold as your truth today?
