Once in a lifetime

Do you know that the moment you are experiencing right now will never repeat itself? It only occurs once in a lifetime. That means that what is happening in the surroundings, the people present, and the unfolding of events will never be exactly the same. Think of  its implications. It asks that you value the moment and what it offers as its uniqueness. A family gathering, a sunset, or even a broken toe can be appreciated for the fact that it will never have the same impact as it does at that moment. We often numb ourselves to what is happening around us because there are so many other distractions. Your child is eager to share what their day was like and your mind is occupied by thoughts of work. You are gathered with your family watching a cherished holiday movie and you are staring constantly at your watch counting the minutes before you can head out the door to join your friends. What have you sacrificed with what the moment had to offer? You will never have the exact opportunity to live this moment again. That train has left the station so to speak. The next time you are tempted to step out of the moment, ask yourself what you were willing miss in doing so. What was a time when you missed a once in a lifetime moment?
