Patterns
We often hear the statements that we are creatures of habit. As such we tend to adopt routines and patterns that we believe are designed to make life easier. This includes traveling the same route to and from work, preparing for work, and paying bills. These are all viewed in a positive light. But what about the patterns that are not so positive in contributing to the life that is best suited for us? These patterns can include drinking several glasses of alcohol at the end of the work day, binging on movies until 1:00 AM when you have to be at work at 7:00, or avoiding confrontations that are creating stress in your life. This can extend into continually choosing romantic partners that treat you in abusive ways. This can include showing up late for or cancelling dates, putting you down in front of others,or never having the money to cover social expenses such as dinners out. When behaviors such as this occur on a regular basis do you ever ask yourself if this feels familiar? Are you willing to see the patterns and ask yourself why this is? Perhaps you believe that this is all you deserve. This is far from the truth. Be willing to explore what supports these patterns and be willing to challenge that. What is a pattern you see in your life that it is time to change?
