Peace of mind
Have you ever experienced mind chatter? Mind chatter occurs when we are caught up in a problem and our minds are playing nonstop. The conversations in our heads are filled with "shoulds," "ought tos," "have tos," and "musts." This is self-judgment run rampant. It also includes "what ifs" and "maybes." Rarely does it lead to a resolution of the problem. Just when you think you have an answer, another door opens leading to more mind chatter. When this occurs the best way to deal with it is to recognize it for what it is and tell it to stop. Ask yourself what it is that you need in the moment. It may be clarity, direction, or rest. Once you know what you need, focus on a step you could take to meet that need. If you need direction, begin by identifying your destination. What would that look like for you? Then think of the first small step you could take to achieve that. In doing so you can experience peace of mind. This comes with being gentle and patient with yourself knowing that the right answers will be made apparent to you when you do this. How are you developing peace of mind in confronting the problems you encounter today?
