Rainbow covered clouds
On my first trip to Bend, Oregon I observed an atmospheric phenomenon that made the news. On a sunny summer day at around 2:00 PM I looked into the sky and saw white clouds painted with all the colors of the rainbow. I was used to seeing rainbowed arches following a rainstorm, but nothing like this. The scientific explanation was that there were still ice crystals in the atmosphere due to the unseasonably cool weather lately and that the sun was reflecting off of them to create this effect. I asked those around me if they had ever seen anything like this before and only those with piloting experience had observed this but not from the ground. I thought to myself that the Universe is filled with unexpected surprises none the least is its ability to create such beauty. I was also filled with gratitude and awe that I was in the right place at the right time to watch this take place. All the elements needed for this to occur were in place at that moment in time and all I needed to do was to take in its splendor. How often do events like this occur and we are too preoccupied to notice them? What have you observed that is evidence of the grandeur of the Universe?
