Self awareness

How do you know when you are ready to make a change? The first indication is self awareness. For whatever reason your current way of thinking or behaving is no longer working for you. It may be related to your current job, a relationship, how you manage money, or how you look and feel in your clothes. It may be related to personal characteristics such as how you view other people, how you deal with stress, or your self talk. Something is different today. You have become uncomfortable with what used to be the norm for you. We tend to change out of one of two motivators. It stems from either a physical or mental discomfort where maintaining your current status only adds to the discomfort or it comes from a clear desire that making the change is what is needed to live a healthier happier life. You become aware that there is a behavior or thought pattern that requires your attention for you to achieve what you desire in life. Once you are aware of what that is you will most likely begin to talk about it with others. "You know I've been thinking about not smoking any more" or "I really need to lose 10 pounds." Think of a change you have made and how you went about accomplishing it. Awareness is always the first step. Keep it simple. Don't attempt to make too many changes at once. That's a formula for not achieving any of them. What are you aware of today that you are ready to change for the better?
