Something's gotta give

Looking back at how I lived my life, I could see how much of it was spent trying to control situations so that the results matched my agenda. When I didn't get what I wanted, it just meant that I wasn't trying hard enough or needed a new strategy. The more I forced the issue, the more frustrated I became. At one point in my life, things fell completely apart and I realized something had to change. Obviously the world around me wasn't bowing to my wishes so that meant I had to look for change within me. I had to surrender to a new set of beliefs for how I approached life. This didn't come easy for me. It was like walking into a foreign land having to learn a new language and customs. I had to immerse myself in situations that would provide me with these new learnings. I made new friends who helped guide me through the process. I read books written by those who shared their similar journeys. Eventually I realized that life is so much easier when I am open to what it has to give. Do I always do this perfectly? When fear steps in, I find myself reverting to my old ways of thinking and acting. The difference today is that I am quickly aware of what is happening and can remind myself of what occurs when I want to step in and try to control life. How is the life that you have chosen working today and what can you do to make any needed changes?
