Stepping into the unknown
There are times in our lives when we must leave what is familiar and comfortable and venture into an unknown territory. It may be a job we have held for many years, a long-term relationship, or moving across the country to seek new opportunities. We leave stability and predictability behind wondering what the future holds. What we know is that there will be a period of adjustment as we gain our footing in this new space. It will likely involve uncertainty, awkwardness, and anxiety. I found this to be the case when I left the work I had done for 34 years and decided to pursue a different career path. My Monday through Friday 9 to 5 job had morphed into the work I do now that has no set schedule, but I am the one who decides what my hours and workload will be. Now that I have been doing this for seven years, it has become the familiar and the comfortable. And it will continue to do so until a new change presents itself. Stepping into the unknown is entering one of the many cycles we experience in life. They each have a beginning, a middle, and an end. Our task is to gather the courage to enter each of them knowing that we are always given what we need to handle it. When was the last time you stepped into the unknown and where are you today in your journey through it?
