Time to move on

Think about a time in the past when you felt slighted, ignored, insulted, or dismissed. How vivid is that memory? Can you recall it in detail so that it feels as if it is happening right now? When you do so, you are living your past in the present. It doesn't change what occurred. It only takes away from fully enjoying and living in the moment. You may say to yourself, "But if you only knew what he or she did to me, you would know that I am justified in holding on to this transgression." Perhaps what the other person did was truly terrible. It may be time to take your power back and affirm that you are an adult and can now stand up for yourself. Recognize that the responsibility for the action taken against you belongs to someone other than you. Tell yourself that it is time to move on for your own happiness. Eventually you can out this into perspective and, when you do, you can recount the incident minus the heavy emotional response. You will feel a new sense of freedom. What is going on in your life today that you continue to replay from your past? When will you tell yourself that it is time to move on?
