Wake up to your senses
When you wake up make a conscious decision to spend some time with your senses before jumping out of bed. Feel the warmth of the bedding and the softness of your pillow. Rub one foot against the other and feel the sensation of your toes. Stretch your arms and legs. Be aware of the level of light in the room. Is it still dark or is daylight streaming into the room. Does it create shadows? What do you smell? Is there coffee brewing? Is it the scent of your own body? What do you hear? Are there birds singing outside your window or is traffic passing by? Is it a rainy morning with thunder? Can you hear the wind blowing through the trees or rain beating against your window? We forget the gifts that our senses bring us. Take time to enjoy this as a way to start your morning in gratitude. Then watch how the rest of your day progresses. How did you begin your day?
